What is Limitless Blue?
WHO:
My name is Corey Cliffe; I am a husband, father, architect, photographer, Portland Timbers soccer fan, bicycle commuter, and social justice advocate living in Portland, Oregon. I have been a registered architect in Oregon since 1996, and I am a LEED Accredited Professional, a Sustainable Homes Professional, and I am working towards becoming a Certified Passive House Consultant. I started my own practice in 2004 and since then have enjoyed working with many private clients along with a number of creative collaborations with Neil Kelly Design-Build, Ernie Goble Architect, Nathan Good Architects, and Green Hammer Design-Build.
WHAT:
Limitless blue is a poetic reference to the inspiring beauty of the ocean, and to the elemental and symbolic qualities of the waters which sustain our lives.
WHY:
I strive to develop design solutions that sensitively integrate with the natural environment, and celebrate the personality and aspirations of those living and working in the space. Since 1992 I have continued searching for opportunities to keep learning and to integrate principals of high performance building science, sustainable design, healthy and green building technologies & materials into my work. In 2018 the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) issued a special report warning that we have only until 2030 to stem catastrophic climate change. Buildings generate nearly 40% of annual global green house gas emissions, so we have a moral imperative to design our new buildings and to renovate our existing structures in creative ways that dramatically increase energy efficiency beyond simple code minimums.
